Raellen Marie Gilbert Thompson, 73, of North Richland Hills, formerly of Big Spring, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Vigil service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

She was born May 4, 1940, in Big Spring to Catherine and Lloyd Gilbert. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring until three years ago. She was a homemaker and later worked for Big Spring Independent School District for 30 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She is survived by five children, Billy Thompson and Kerri of North Richland Hills, Katy Lamb of Fredericksburg, Molly James and Nigel of Lake Jackson, Jimmy Thompson of Houston and Kristy Thompson and Joe Yoder of Newark; one brother, Mike Gilbert and Jackie of Royse City; two sisters-in-law, Alene Gilbert of Allen and Billie Gilbert of Arlington; 10 grandchildren, Nick James and Alyse, Nicole De La Garza and Zack, Brendan Lamb, Justin Lamb, Alison James, Megan James, Brock Thompson, John-Eric James, Karli Lyn Thompson and Samuel James; and four great-grandchildren, Brady James, Noah De La Garza, Cally James and Elizabeth Hope De La Garza.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Gilbert, Bob Gilbert and Bill Gilbert; and one daughter, Meghan Thompson.

Pallbearers will be John Gilbert, Robert Gilbert, Tony Gilbert, Justin Lamb, Nick James, Brock Thompson and Samuel James.

On July 10, 2013, Raellen "Memoe" is now rejoicing with Jesus and Mary in Heaven. She will be truly missed by her family and friends, including her new ones from her most recent home in North Richland Hills. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the only hobbies she needed besides long walks, Diet Coke, Tony Romo and anything purple.
