Raul Aguilar

Raul Aguilar, 71, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.

Raul was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Munday, Texas, and married Amelia Miramontes June 3, 1959, in Big Spring. He worked for 26 1/2 years for the state hospital in Big Spring as a cook.

Survivors include his wife, Amelia Aguilar; six sons, Robert Aguilar and wife Anglina, Raul Aguilar Jr. and wife Christy, Gilbert Aguilar and wife Stella, Andrew Aguilar, Edward Aguilar and wife Patricia, and Gabriel Aguilar and wife Rachel; five daughters, Gloria A. Garza, Joann Torres, Diane Valencia and husband Leoandro Sanchez, and Yvonne Aguilar, all of Big Spring, and Belinda Chartier of Weatherford; one brother, Albert Aguilar of Big Spring; two sisters, Rebecca Hinojos and husband Richardo of Phoenix, Ariz., and Victoria Vance of Dallas; 41 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Victoria (Bonilla) Aguilar; two brothers, Luis Aguilar and Rudy Aguilar; two sisters, Maria Hara and Sandy Aguilar; and one granddaughter.
