Ray Mendoza Sr., 54, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Paul B. Herr officiating.

He was born Aug. 6, 1957, in Bee County, Texas, to Marcella and Tranquilino Mendoza. He was a cook at Denny’s and also did landscape. He lived most of his life in Big Spring and was a Christian.

He is survived by one son, Ray Mendoza Jr. and wife Ester of Midland; two grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Nestora Mendoza Tanguma of San Antonio, Romona Anderverde of Corpus Christi, Tranquilino Mendoza Jr. of Venus, Marcela Thompson of Oxnard, Calif., Maria Anita Kerr of Carrolton, Johnny Mendoza and Hector Mendoza, both of Dallas, Sylvia Gamble of Big Spring, and Rosamarie Paredez of Odessa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gregoria Vergara.
