Redistricting on table

Big Spring school trustees are expected to put their formal stamp of approval on the district's single-member redistricting plan when they hold their monthly meeting at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the high school board room.

Redrawing the seven single-member trustee districts to adequately reflect population and demographic changes in the last 10 years has been a months-long process, involving lawyers, demographers and an advisory committee comprised of both school officials and local citizens.

The end result of all that effort, however, is a boundary map that reflects a growing Hispanic voting presence within Big Spring ISD, officials said.
