Reginald 'Reggie' Dawson

Reginald "Reggie" Dawson, 48, of Big Spring died Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Ray Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

Reginald “Reggie" Dawson was born Jan. 22, 1965, in Big Spring, Texas, to the late E.S. (Sam) Dawson and Jo Hazel Dawson. He attended public schools, graduating from Big Spring High School in 1983.

He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Reggie worked at Furr's, Hermans, Safeway and later partnered with his father's janitorial service.

Born into a family of musicians, Reggie was gifted in playing the saxophone and drums. He was an avid collector of music and owned numerous 8 tracks, albums, cassettes and CDs. His friends joked that he could open up his own warehouse.

Reggie leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Jo Hazel Dawson; close family friends, Gloria Marion, Ruth Shellman and Robert Redford; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father E.S. (Sam) Dawson; his paternal grandparents, Alberta Watkins and Murmon Dawson; his maternal grandparents, Willie V. Williams and the Rev. N.C. Williams; and an uncle, John Henry Baker.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Marion, Leon Eddington, Rodger Eddington, Terrance Marion, Victor Pruitt and Vernon Ausbie. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Horton, Abner Shellman, Gerald Wrightsil and David Humphries.
