Reliever route gets funding

Officials for the Ports to Plains Alliance announced Thursday funding for the northern portion of the Highway 87 reliever route has been secured, a step many people thought would not happen for decades.

“This is huge,” said Gloria McDonald, a member of the Ports to Plains Alliance. “We didn’t think we would get the northern portion for probably 20 years or if ever because we weren’t sure funding was going to be available.”
