These two bronze replicas of Frederic Remington sculptures will serve as the centerpieces of a park area being developed immediately east of the Settles Hotel. The Settles Hotel has attracted a lot of visitors since it reopened late last year — including a pair of cowboys on horseback.

As part of ongoing renovation and landscaping in the lot adjacent to the hotel, replicas of two Frederic Remington statues were relocated to the lot east of the hotel Monday, Settles Manager Bill Cole said.

The two bronze sculptures outside the Settles are titled “Cowboy” and “The Rattlesnake.”

The sculptures will be the centerpieces of a park area scheduled to be completed later this year. Cole said the park will include a wrought-iron fence, walking trails and a gazebo. It will be conducive to outdoor weddings and concerts, as well as provide a ”nice outdoor resting area for visitors,” he added.
