Reward for info on sexual assault nears $20K

July 24, 2014

Contributions to Crime Stoppers are expected to exceed $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of the man who stabbed and sexually assaulted an 85-year-old Big Spring woman one week ago, Big Spring Police Chief Chad Williams said today.

“A large cross-section of Big Spring and Howard County have teamed up with Crime Stoppers to send a clear message,” Williams said. “That message is that this ommunity will not tolerate the heinous acts that were committed on the morning of July 17 and they are willing to pay a substantial reward to see that the suspect is brought to justice.”

Williams, in a 10 a.m. news conference, said Texas Rangers have joined the investigation, although BSPD remains the lead agency in the case.

Anyone having information about the crime is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 432-263-TIPS (8477).

A full report on today’s news conference will appear in the Friday edition of the Herald.
