Rheba Guy McCartney

Rheba Guy McCartney, 81, of Amory, Miss., passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, located at 3349 N. 12th St., Abilene, Texas, with Brother Butch Pesch officiating. A time of visitation will follow immediately after services. Private graveside rites at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery will precede the memorial service.

Mrs. McCartney was born to the late William Buford and Jewell Arlene Powers Guy on Nov. 7, 1930, in Winters, Texas. She worked as a receptionist for several doctors and dentists. Always happy and thinking of others first, Mrs. McCartney enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking and listening to gospel music.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis E. McCartney of Amory; a daughter, Arlena McCartney Stevens (Steve) of Amory; two sisters, Dorothy Fay Minor of Abilene and Lela Mae Adcock of Odessa; a granddaughter, LuAnn Stevens Green (Brian) of Abilene; a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Ann Green; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCartney was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ila Guy; four sisters, Ouida Guy, Lydia McHugh, Eraleen Trusdell and Gwendolyn Bosch; and eight brothers, H.M. Guy, Forrest Guy, J.B. Guy, William B. Guy, M.L. Guy, Doyle Guy, L.C. Bailey and Dutch Bailey.
