Rita Daniel Palmer, 79, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Binnix and Chaplain Walter McCall officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Rita was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Comanche County, Texas, and married Philip Palmer on Feb. 13, 1957, in Howard County, Texas. He preceded in death on May 14, 1987.
She as a member of MENSA, and also the associate editor of the book, â€śCow Chips in the Cookstove.â€ť She retired as an assistant manager of the Teacherâ€™s Credit Union.
She was a member of Midway Baptist Church
Survivors include one son, Clarence Palmer and wife Stacey of Big Spring; five daughters, Wauneta Cannon and husband Bill of Killeen, Elizabeth Austin and husband Doug of Sparta, Tenn., Dallas Gresham and husband Edgar of Jacksonville, Rebecca Bock and husband Al of Temple, Stacey Croyle and husband Tim of Hyde Park, Pa.; one sister, Oleta Carter of Big Spring; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Rita was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Marie Wilburn; one grandson; parents, Dallas Donald and Linnie Alma (Stephens) Daniel; and one sister LoQuita Diane Daniel.
