Road closure tops commissioners' agenda

January 12, 2013

A resolution to permanently close a portion of a county road in the Tubbs Addition will highlight a routine meeting of Howard County Commissioners Court at 10 a.m. Monday.

The road dead-ends in front of two homes and both owners have petitioned the county to close the road to through traffic.

“it's pretty simple, really,” county Judge Mark barr said. “Both property owners are in agreement over this. All it takes is a resolution.”

Also Monday, commissioners will hear a report from Sheriff Stan Parker on the ethnic profile of county jail prisoners during 2012.

Barr said Parker is annually required to give such a report to show if minorities make up a disproportionate number of arrestees within the county.

In other business, commissioners will consider:

• The monthly financial report and invoices, purchase requests and budget amendments.
• Personnel matters.
• Permission to the road and bridge department to advertise bids for equipment.
The meeting will be held in the commissioners' courtroom on the third floor of the Howard County courthouse.
