Robert "Bob" Cline, 88, of Vealmoor died Saturday June 22, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Big Spring. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Memorial Park Chapel with Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating.
He was born April 5, 1925, in Howard County to Nola Candice and Burnett Roe Cline. He was a Baptist and a lifetime resident of the community. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Belleau Wood aircraft carrier in the Sea of Japan. After returning from the Navy, he married Clara Kathleen Nichols on Dec. 18, 1946. He farmed in Fairview for many years and was also a pipefitter. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by one son, Steve Cline and wife Toni of San Antonio; two daughters, Sheran Lee Allen and husband Don of Lena, La., and Robbie Crenshaw and husband Jim of Big Spring; one sister, Dorothy McKenzie of Big Spring; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson; one brother, Ray Cline; and three sisters, Daisy Wood, Mina Suttle and Gertrude Unger.
