Robert H. Thomas Sr.

ABILENE — Robert H. Thomas Sr. died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at the Clyde Assembly of God with John Shepard officiating and Charles Sinks assisting. Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home.

Robert was born Aug. 31, 1943, in Abilene, Texas, to Ed and Annie Belle (Taylor) Thomas. He married Margaret H. Turnbow on Dec. 21, 1961, in Big Spring. Robert worked as a firefighter in his early years and at Cosden Refinery in Big Spring before finally retiring from Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Later he owned Thomas Quik Stop in Merkel. He is a member of the Clyde Assembly of God.

Robert is survived by his wife, Margaret of Abilene; two sons, Robert H. Thomas Jr. and Randy H. Thomas, both of Abilene; two brothers, Eddie Dean Thomas of Midland and Jackie Allen Thomas of Big Spring; one sister, Janie Thomas of Big Spring; four grandchildrenl; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Darlene.
