Robert J. Wylie

Former Big Spring resident Robert J. Wylie, 75, of Ropesville, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Family and friends gathered Sunday, Sept. 2, for fellowship at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street. A celebration of his life was held Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers with Lee Butt officiating and John Smith assisting.

Robert John was born Aug. 10, 1937 in Tokio, Texas to Rupert Truman and Flora Ella Bell Stormes Wylie. He graduated from Meadow High School and attended Howard College. Robert married Kaye Sosebee Aug. 10, 1958 in Ropesville, Texas.

He worked at Lubbock Manufacturing Company for 20 years and transferred to Big Spring in 1979. he later worked FiberFlex for 20 years. After living in Big Spring for 27 years, He and his family relocated back to their hometown area. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was active in Special Olympics.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye Sosebee Wylie; daughter, D’lene Kaye Wylie; brothers, Dale Wylie and Melvin Wylie and wife, Kay; brother in-laws and sister in-laws, Don Blake, Nell Wylie, Patsy Smith and husband, John, Troyce Sosebee and wife, Carolyn, Linda Burns and husband, Richard, Sue Coker and husband, Mike.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Winola Wylie, and a sister, Elizabeth Eldora Blake.

His family suggests memorial contribution to be given to Frenship High School Special Olympics, c/o Sherry James, 5404 CR 1420, Lubbock Texas 79407.
