Robert Scott Greene, 99, of Big Spring died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Greg Surles officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Dunn Cemetery in Dunn, Texas, at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home.
Robert was born Dec. 6, 1913 in Ada, Okla., and married Lula Mae McKnight, June 5, 1937, in Lubbock. She preceded him in death April 24, 2010.
Robert Scott farmed and ranched in the Snyder area for 61 years. He was instrumental in starting the Scurry County Sheriff's Posse in 1953. He and his wife lived in Dunn for 30 years and came to Big Spring in 1998 to be closer to family.
He was a member of the Birdwell Lane Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Robert Wayne Greene, of Big Spring; two granddaughters, Timary Rosenbaum, of Big Spring and Marta Greene, of Lewisville; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Caden and Cayla Rosembaum and Derek and Draven Simmons; and one sister, Essie Pearl Ellis.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nancy (Colbert) Greene, and one sister, Pauline Ashley.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Highway 16N, Medina, TX 78055.
