Robert 'Shina' Ruiz

Robert “Shina” Ruiz, 63, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at his residence. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Feb. 4, 1948, in Barstow to Juanita and Jose Ruiz. He married Ledia Rodriguez on Feb. 24, 1968, in Big Spring. He worked at Fiberglass Systems for 10 years. Most recently he worked at the Big Spring Independent School District in the custodial department. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Ledia Ruiz of Big Spring; one son, Chris Ruiz of Big Spring; one daughter, Mary Jane Hernandez and husband Jason of Big Spring; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Juanita Ball and husband Wayne of Houston and Isabel Flores and husband Joe of Big Spring.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gilberta Rodriguez.
