Roberto Galindo Garcia, 83, of Big Spring died Monday June 9, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park with Military Honors.He was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Big Spring to Anita and Jesse Garcia. He married Josephine Esparza in 1958. He served in the United States Army, 4th Armored Division, during the Korean Conflict where he earned two silver stars, a United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service medals. He also played semi pro ball with the Big Spring Tigers. He worked for 40 years at Big Spring State Hospital as a nursing supervisor before retiring in 1995. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and he was a Catholic. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Garcia of Big Spring; one son; Gabriel Garcia of Big Spring; one daughter; Sandra Gonzales and husband Pedro of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren, Crystal Alvarez, Eric Gonzales, Anthony K. Garcia, Dee Mario Garcia, Gabriel Victor Garcia, Brandon Garcia, Audrey Garcia, Damian Garcia, Rosando Montana Jr., Roland Montana; one sister, Feliz Carrasco of Big Spring; one nephew and five nieces.Pallbearers will be Pedro Gonzales, Manuel Carassco, Gilbert Martinez, Michael Garcia, Ben Garcia, Jesse Delgado, Jason Woodruff and Ricky Loya.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Rosando Montana.
