Graveside services for Rommy Austin White, age 71, of Brownwood, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood with pastor Tony King officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rommy passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, in the Brownwood Skilled Nursing Facility.
Rommy Austin White was born Jan. 25, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas, to Roland H. White and Dorothy E. Smart-White-Benes. He had been a resident of Brownwood since 1971 and had worked as a truck driver and in the oil fields. Rommy loved his friends and family; his dog, Snowy; and his Texas Longhorns.
Survivors are his longtime friend and companion Connie Olin of Brownwood; step-father, Anton Benes of Brownwood; son, Mike and wife Judy Coates of Keyes, Calif.; daughter, Dana and husband David Brantley of Merced, Calif.; daughter, Jodie and husband Larry Don Freeman of Dover, Ark.; brother, Johnny and wife Nina White of Plainview, Texas; sister, Dee Dee and husband Earl King of Coahoma, Texas; sister, Serena Carter of Kilgore, Texas; sister, Judy and husband Eddie Mann of Big Spring, Texas; sister, Ginger and husband JC Gosssett of Colorado City, Texas; brothers, Roland E. White and James White, both of Big Spring, Texas; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland H. White and Dorothy E. Smart-White-Benes; and son, RD White.
