Rubie Tom Gibbs

Rubie Tom Gibbs, 91, of Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Big Spring, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 in Fort Collins. Her memorial service will be Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Myers and Smith Chapel.

Rubie was born Feb. 28, 1921 to Dr. D.T. and Lillie Jordan in Bowie, Texas. She married Forrest Gibbs Jan. 16, 1937, in Morton Texas and later moved to Big Spring. She worked at the soda fountain at Woolworth's in downtown Big Spring, as a dietician at Cowper Hospital for many years and was a member of College Baptist Church and also a member of the Rebecca Lodge.

Rubie and Forrest retired to Lake Tawakoni, then later moved to McKinney. n the mid 1990s she moved to Yorba Linda, Calif., where she was a very active member of the Yorba Linda Friends Church. She returned to Texas in September 2011, living in Lubbock until recently moving to Fort Collins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Forrest.

She is survived by her children: Guy Gibbs and his wife Nita of Yorba Linda, Calif., Richard and his wife Debbie of Mesquite, Susan Smith of Fort Collins, Colo. and Elice and her husband Luven Flores of Big Spring. She is also survived by six grandchildren and and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
