Run-off voting starts Monday

Early voting for the June 23 Big Spring Independent School District run-off election begins Monday, officials said.
BSISD District 2 incumbent Maria Padilla, seeking her fourth term on the school board, will face challenger Pat DeAnda in the run-off. In the May 12 municipal election, Padilla received slightly more than 39 percent of the vote total, compared to Deanda receiving 37 percent.
Because neither candidate claimed a majority, a run-off was ordered.
Only those voters residing in BSISD District 2 will be eligible to cast ballots.
No other run-off elections will be held June 23, Bloom noted.
Saundra Bloom, Howard County elections administrator, said early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday through June 19 at the county courthouse.
Polling for the June 23 election will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum, Bloom said.
