Ruth Holcombe, 82, of Mineral Wells, formerly of Stanton, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, in Mineral Wells. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Stanton with the Rev. David Harp, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.
She was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Cooper, Texas, and married Kenneth Holcombe on April 8, 1950 in Courtney, Texas. He preceded her in death July 2, 1998.
Ruth worked with her husband in the family business, Holcombe Industrial and Pump Service, for more than 30 years. They retired in November 1997.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Stanton.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam Butz of Mineral Wells; three grandchildren, Melanie Jackson, Samantha Tucker and Ryan Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Rylea Hippard, Bailey Johnson and Colby Johnson; many special nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Virginia Ringener of Big Spring and Peggy Fitzgerald of Edmond, Okla.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Kerry Holcombe; four brothers, Claude Glaspie, Hollis Glaspie, Jim Glaspie, and Salty Glaspie; and two sisters, Melba Brewer and Imogene George.
