This familiar scene — Hardin-Simmons University’s Six White Horses parading through Big Spring, won’t be taking place this year. The horses will be part of the Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo, but the parade won’t be. Instead, organizers will have a meet-and-greet event at the fair barns. (File photo)
It's time to cowboy up.
The 78th Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo is back for three nights — June 16,17 and 18 — at the Big Spring Rodeo grounds.
“We are trying something new this year,” Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo board member Derek Wash said. “With the hot temperatures especially, we thought we would cut out the parade and do a Rodeo Kick Off instead.”
Thursday night at 6 p.m., all those who would normally be in the rodeo parade, including the cowboys, bull riders, rodeo clowns and rodeo entertainment, will gather at the fair barns for a meet and greet session.
