Seferino â€śNinoâ€ť Guevara, 65, of Big Spring, Texas, died Tuesday Feb. 11, 2014, at Senior Care Center of Midland. Vigil service is 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
He was born Aug. 15, 1948 in Pearsall, Texas to Minerva and Santos Guevara. He married his wife, Mary, on Aug. 17, 1969 in Stanton, Texas. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. He was a resident of Howard County for almost 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Guevara, of Big Spring; two daughters, Rachel Garza and husband, Lupe, of Big Spring and Yvette Martinez and husband, Joe, also of Big Spring; four sisters, Angelita Morales and husband, Fredrico, of Hart, Texas, Alicia Marquez of Stanton, Abby Villa and husband, Clemente, of Stanton and Alma Villa and husband, Ray, of Midland; two brothers, Joe Guevara and wife, Gloria, of San Antonio, Texas, and David Guevara and wife, Tencha, of Monahans, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jacob Garza and wife, Sophia, Isaac Garza and wife, Taylor, Marissa Garza, Jennifer Bender and husband, Calvin, Donna Martinez and husband, Gus, Cynthia Martinez, Allen Martinez and Isabella Martinez; eight great-grandchildren, Liah Garza, Jacob Garza Jr., Hayden Garza, Gabby Bender, Isiah Bender, Miah Bender, Manny Bender and Messiah Martinez.
Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Garza, Isaac Garza, Anthony Guevara, Benny Hernandez, Ray Ray Villa, Fabian Morales, Fred Morales and Miguel Morales. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Garza, Jr., Hayden Garza and Allen Martinez.
