Seliger: Stick with education reforms

July 25, 2014

State Senator Kel Seliger(R-Amarillo) says let’s stick with the educational reforms encompassed with House Bill 5.

“The general response around the district is very positive, and it is easy to understand because it’s an educator’s bill,” Seliger said. “The original bill I introduced essentially came from educators. I represent 82 school districts. All my public education stuff, I send to them before I introduce or shortly thereafter. I don’t go to committee or the floor without educators weighing in. I have a lot of good ideas but some of them are not workable. Some of them can be improved upon, so I asked the people who are experts who are more than eager to work with me on that stuff. So overwhelmingly, it’s been positive.”
