State Senator Kel Seliger(R-Amarillo) says letâs stick with the educational reforms encompassed with House Bill 5.
âThe general response around the district is very positive, and it is easy to understand because itâs an educatorâs bill,â Seliger said. âThe original bill I introduced essentially came from educators. I represent 82 school districts. All my public education stuff, I send to them before I introduce or shortly thereafter. I donât go to committee or the floor without educators weighing in. I have a lot of good ideas but some of them are not workable. Some of them can be improved upon, so I asked the people who are experts who are more than eager to work with me on that stuff. So overwhelmingly, itâs been positive.â
