Serious trash talking

April 1, 2011

Spring cleaning will take on a whole new scope in the Crossroads area Saturday, as Keep Big Spring Beautiful and local volunteers get ready to spruce up the community during the annual Don't Mess With Texas Trash-Off.

“Keep Texas Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, which has each state scheduled for a clean-up from March 1 through May 31,” said longtime Trash-Off coordinator Pat Simmons. “So, Texas always works on the first Saturday in April unless Easter falls on that week-end.

“Keep Big Spring Beautiful strives each year to make a difference in the appearance of our community. With our recent fires I would hope that every resident and business would survey their property to make sure it is free of tall, dry grass, weeds and trash. This is a perfect target for your property with the very dry and hot days.”
