For most educators, AP stands for Advanced Placement, college prep courses offered through many Texas high schools.
To Mike Ritchey, however, the letters stand for “Absolutely Perfect.”
Ritchey, the principal at Big Spring High School, was using those words to describe the test results of seven BSHS students in the latest round of national AP exams conducted earlier this year.
Those students — Andrew Fillingim, Blake Brorman, Lucas Ontiveros, Jackson Watkins, Connor Furqueron, Shermila Kher and Lacy McMurtrey — all scored in the elite level on the national tests, which were administered during the 2010-20-11 school year. The results were only recently announced.
