Sharon Mathews, 55, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel.
She was born Dec. 23, 1958, in Hearn, Texas, to Jewel and Ulysses Mathews. She was a homemaker and a waitress. She was a member of West HWY 80 Church of Christ, and was a lifetime resident of Big Spring.
She is survived by her husband Manuel Dejesus of Big Spring; four sons Jeffrey Mathews of New Mexico, Wendell Smith and his wife Tiffany of Iowa, Christopher Smith and Brian Smith, both of Midland, Texas; parents Jewel and Ulysses Mathews of Big Spring; two sisters Martha Lang and her husband Al, and Marta Maclin and her husband Kenneth, both of Big Spring; three brothers Mark Mathews and his wife Susan of Mansfield, Edward Mathews and Phillip Mathews and his wife Gigi, all of Big Spring; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, two sisters Annie Jewel Mathews and Frankie Mae Green, and one brother Ulysses Mathews, Jr.
