ROSWELL, N.M. — The Howard College men’s basketball team wasn’t at full strength for Monday’s game against New Mexico Military Institute, but the Hawks still came away with a 68-58 win to move to 3-0 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.
Carlos Emory was huge with 22 points and seven rebounds. He rarely missed, too, shooting 14 of 18 from the field. Shavon Coleman also had 22 points and Corey Stern chipped in 13 points.
The Hawks had five players for Monday’s game and that was whittled down to four with a little under four minutes left in the game because of foul trouble.
Head coach Mark Adams said three players have been suspended indefinitely from the team due to disciplinary issues. The coach declined to state who was suspended and what they did to receive the punishment.
However, the dismissals give the Hawks five players right now for Thursday’s game against Midland College at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum. Adams said Midland College is the best team in the conference.
Adams is hoping to have Jason Walker on the team by then. Described as a solid shooter and athletic, Walker is a Big Spring native and the Hawks hope he will help with their depth issues.View more articles in:
