Shots fired in home

August 23, 2011

Local law enforcement officials are investigating a report of a foot chase that gave way to gunfire Monday morning in the 500 block of State Street.

According to Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer with the Big Spring Police Department, the altercation involved several black, male suspects.

“Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of State in reference to a report of shots fired,” Everett said. “On arrival, officers found that a family was inside their home when a black male subject banged on the door and then forced his way inside.

“As he ran through the house, two more black males came through the door chasing him. One of the subjects was armed with a handgun. Two shots were fired at the victim. The two suspects then fled out the door, running to a red or maroon, small vehicle. They fled in the vehicle.”
