Speck Bray

Speck Bray, 69, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel, with Courtney Ballard, pastor of Circuit Riders Cowboy Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Speck was born Nov. 9, 1944, at Whiteface, Texas, to Obelia and Ott Bray. He served 24 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a sergeant first class in 1982. He was a Vietnam veteran.
He came to Big Spring 17 years ago from Levelland. He worked for the city Of Big Spring and Howard County until 1999, retiring due to ill health. He was a member of Circuit Riders Cowboy Church.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Bray of Big Spring; four sons, Joe Frank Bray and Mark Bray, both of Germany, Mike McCormick and his wife Shelley, and Joe McCormick and his wife Sylvia, all of Big Spring; one sister, Neva Vanstory of Houston; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
