St. Mary’s celebrates annual festival, 125th anniversary

St. Mary's the Virgin Episcopal Church parish ended its year-long 125th Anniversary celebration Sunday night, right back at the beginning with a packed house for the St. Andrew's Day Evening Prayer and Scottish Music Festival.

The parish kicked off its celebration at last year's St. Andrews Day, an event that draws an audience from around West Texas, and wrapped up by celebrating another milestone, the 10th anniversary of the popular festival to celebrate the domination's historical ties to the Scottish Church.

The highlight of the evening came from the trio of Highland bagpipers E.J. Jones, Doug Frobese and Richard Kean, along with Scottish snare drummer Stephen Cameron, who performed a melody of songs. Following the hour-long service, the audience was invited to enjoy a large buffet of Scottish fare prepared by parish members and coordinated by Cynthia Marshall.
