Big Spring Independent School District officials want to get the word out about new state standardized testing that will take effect this year.
BSISD will host three public meetings for parents of high school freshmen to explain some of the requirements their children will face from the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) end of course exams.
The meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday. All meetings will be held at the high school auditorium.
STAAR is a more rigorous standardized testing program which will replace the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).
