The Big Spring boys powerlifters competed in the Pecos Power Classic over the weekend.  This meet was the last boys qualifier for Regionals.  The top 12 boys in each weight division, once the last qualifier weekend is done, qualify for Regionals.
The powerlifters who were in possible danger of getting bumped out of the top 12, or who were just outside of it, went to this meet.  The powerlifters that are rated high in the rankings and are safe as far as qualifying for Regionals, did not go to this meet.
The results of the Pecos Power Classic are as follows:
Morris Norman placed 5th in the 114 lb class, Sean Mendoza placed 1st in the 123 lb class, Cruz Martinez placed 2nd in the 123 lb class, Joshua Lopez placed 3rd in the 132 lb class, Andrew Roberts placed 2nd in the 242 lb class and Daniel Roberts placed 2nd in the 275 lb class.
“With basically half of a team competing at Pecos, our boys finished 3rd out of 10 teams, and all medaled,” said powerlifting coach Chris McWilliams. “ I am very proud of how our boys competed!”
