Student registration set for BSISD

Ready or not, here it comes.

A new school years begins Aug. 22 and Big Spring Independent School District officials have announced dates and times for student registrations, schedule pick-ups and orientations.

All elementary campuses (grades kindergarten through 4) will hold orientations and “meet the teacher” events Aug. 18. The times for each campus are:

• Bauer — 5:30 p.m.
• Kentwood — 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• Marcy — 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Moss — 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (students will attend classes this school year at the Goliad Intermediate campus)
• Washington — 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

BSISD fifth-graders, who will attend Goliad Intermediate School, will have orientation and meet their teachers from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 18.

Big Spring Junior High will hold orientation for its students in the school gymnasium Thursday, Aug. 11. Sixth graders, who will attend classes at the junior high for the first time this school year, will have orientation from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., seventh graders will follow from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with eighth grade orientation being held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

High school sophomores, juniors and seniors can pick up their schedules Aug. 17 and 18 at the campus' central office. Times and dates for each grade are:

• Seniors — 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 17.
• Juniors — 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 17.
• Sophomores — 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18.

Freshman orientation and schedule pickup will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in the high school auditorium.

Parents of students new to the district can register their children at their respective campuses during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Parents or guardians will need to provide the following information: the child's Social Security card; immunization record; proof of residency; parent or guardian's driver's license; and proof of guardianship (if applicable).
