Suspect sought in Martin County murder

MARTIN COUNTY — What is believed to have begun with an argument turned deadly during the weekend in Martin County, leaving one Lamesa man shot to death and a second on the run.

According to law enforcement officials, the shooting was reported at 8:51 a.m. Sunday when a local resident called 911 to say that someone had been shot at their residence in the 3100 block of County Road D 3600 in central Martin County.

Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene to find 32-year-old Anau Rodriguez Villagrana of Lamesa suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head.

A murder warrant has since been issued for 36-year-old Jose Americo Garcia, whose last known address is in Lamesa, according to law enforcement records.
