Symphony Guild needing homes for annual tour
Have you ever wanted to open your home to the community? Here's your chance. Homes are being sought for this year's Symphony Guild Tour of Homes, scheduled for Dec. 11. “Last year we couldn't find enough homes so we had to cancel the tour,” said Eulaine McIntosh, Guild president. “Nobody wants to cancel the tour, but without the participation, we just couldn't do it.”This year, David and Marie Justice have agreed to take part in the Tour of Homes, but more homes are needed. McIntosh said it would be ideal to have four to six homes to showcase. “We want all types of homes to be involved. It's not an exclusive tour, it's an inclusive tour,” McIntosh said. “We don't want people to think we only accept big mansions, even though they do draw a crowd. We accept all different types of homes.”The main requirements for those wanting to take part in the tour are: the home has to be decorated for Christmas by Dec. 10, owners must be willing to open their home to the paying art supporters who attend the tour and agree to publicity photos. “We usually have a couple of hundred come through the tour each year, but it's usually the same people. You will see those who are interested in supporting the arts as well as the city officials, realtors and other people throughout the community.“Each home will bring a different aspect to the tour, which is why we don't limit the types of homes we accept,” McIntosh said. Homes of all ages and architecture are accepted. The tour will take place between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Tickets for the tour can be purchased at Fayes Flowers, Heritage Museum, Western Bank and Blums, but won't be on sale until late November. More information regarding ticket prices and purchases will be released at a later date. For those wanting to take part in the tour, contact McIntosh as soon as possible at 264-7671.
