Symphony preparing for Christmas concert

December 5, 2010

With a number of special guests adding to the performance, Big Spring Symphony Orchestra will present “Holiday Holidays, a Symphonic Christmas,” at Trinity Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec. 18.

“We have planned a concert of wonderful seasonal and Christmas music. Offered late in the Christmas season, we hope it will be the highlight of the holiday season for many of our listeners,” said Dr. Keith Graumann, symphony music director and conductor.

Guests will include the Coahoma Choir Kids under the direction of Sandra Wallace, soprano Joyce Bradley and narrator Malinda Flenniken.

The concert opens at 8 p.m. with several works based on familiar carols, including “Carol of the Bells,” “March of the Toys” and the “Carol of the Drum,” also known as “The Little Drummer Boy.”

“The music is a mixture of classical music style and ancient tunes combined with percussion and a popular beat,” said Graumann. “This will be fun for all and will have eve4ryone wanting to tap their feet, silently I hope!”
