Take your tech trash to the landfill this weekend

Don't know what to do with that ancient computer or that out-of-date printer? Put a green thumb on it, so to speak.

The city of Big Spring and Keep Big Spring Beautiful will team up for their annual e-waste collection Friday and Saturday at the city landfill on East FM 700.

The collection effort offers local residents and businesses an environmentally friendly way to get rid of their old electronic items. Collection is set for 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Friday, for businesses or residents needing to do away with 10 or more computers or other electronic items. However, the collection will be open to everyone in the community Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Among the items which will be accepted at the landfill are computer equipment, phones, TVs, fax machines, scanners, DVDs, VCRs and other video playing devices.

No batteries will be accepted, officials said.
