Tax Aide program staff set for itemized returns Tuesday

February 19, 2011

Officials with the annual AARP Tax-Aide program say tax preparations and filings have gone smoothly so far, with the bulk of itemized returns expected to be filed in the coming weeks.

The Internal Revenue Service began accepting itemized returns this week, a delay that was made necessary to allow for updating of a number of deductions that were approved late in the process by the federal government.

However, volunteers with the AARP Tax Aide program are expected to handle the sudden influx of itemized returns with little difficulty, according to program coordinator Gloria Hopkins.
