T.C. 'Jiggs' Jones

Funeral services for T.C. "Jiggs" Jones, 96, of Lamesa will be held on Wednesday Oct. 9, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Church of Christ in Lamesa with Mark Hackett officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation was held Tuesday Oct. 8, 2013, at Branon Funeral Home.

He passed away Monday Oct. 7, 2013, in Lamesa. Jiggs was born on April 19, 1917, in Buford to Artie (Prentice) and Glenn Jones Sr. He married Charlene Walker in March of 1939 in Colorado City. She preceded him in death in 1966; they were married for 28 years. He later married Anna Ruth Wilcox in 1967. She preceded him in death in 1996; they were married for 29 years.

Jiggs was a member of Church of Christ. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He loved farming, taking care of horses, fishing and he was an expert marksman in hunting. Jiggs was an excellent cook and baker, and was known for the delicious pecan pie, blueberry muffins, canned jelly, hot sauce and dinner rolls that he served at Greenhut Cafe. He was an extremely happy person who loved pulling pranks and joking with others. He suffered physically and mentally, but he endured and never let those aspects bring him down. His generous spirit will always be remembered.

Jiggs is survived by his children, Phillip Jones and wife Jerrie of Abilene, Sue Fletcher of Lamesa, Judy Howell of Lamesa, Jonice Lauderdale and husband Marshall of Lamesa, Earl Clark of Lamesa and Jimmy Mosley; sisters, Eva Matlock of Brownfield, Mirl Clement of Lamesa, Cricket Dempsey of O'Donnell; brothers, Skint Jones of Lamesa, Tut Jones of Early, and Charles Jones of Seminole; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Glen Jones Jr., Prentice Jones; and sisters, Maxine Stewart, Lillian Hilderbrand and Helen Garrett.
