Big Spring Independent School District has a reputation problem, according to the Texas Education Agency monitor assigned to the district.
â€śThe biggest issue and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would put one of these first ... perception is not reality,â€ť TEA monitor Fred Liner told trustees Thursday night. â€śYou have got to deliver that message. You are going to have to deal with public relations and employee relations as well as parental involvement on the academic side. There is a lot of work to do in the way of your community involvement. You guys have some characteristics and some same issues as urban school districts deal with ... in isolated incidents. I think you guys have got a better story to tell.â€ť
