Tickets are on sale now for those wanting to celebrate the fourth anniversary of Healthy Woman with a special speaker and in a special venue later this month.
The event, which will include a health and fitness expo and a catered dinner, will be held Jan. 24 in the Hotel Settles. Tickets are $40 each.
Healthy Woman is a Scenic Mountain Medical Center program which specifically targets women and gets them focused on themselves so they are able to take care of the loved ones in their lives. Of course, the Jan. 24 anniversary event is open to men, too.
The evening will begin with a health expo, located on the mezzanine, at 4:30 p.m. Area vendors will be available with information and talking about health services. Vendor spaces are still available for health-related agencies.
“We want to offer the community an opportunity to learn about all that Big Spring has to offer regarding health services,” said Anita Cline, Healthy Woman co-coordinator. “There are so many services right here that people don’t realize and we want to make sure that people are able to learn about those services and talk to the people providing them.”
The ballroom doors will open at 6 p.m. for a sit-down dinner catered by the Hotel Settles. Guest speaker for the evening will be Jane Jenkins Herlong, former Miss America Pageant contestant and motivational speaker. Her keynote speech will be “Bare Feet to High Heels and the Flip-Flops in Between.” After her 40-minute program has concluded, she will sign copies of her books and CD.
“Those attending can expect to have a lot of fun and should be prepared for tons of laughter while they are learning an awareness of physical, mental and spiritual health,” Herlong said. “One of the biggest pieces of advice I can give someone is to never stop dreaming big and never stop believing in a God who is big.”
