STANTON — At least three times a year, this sleepy West Texas hamlet becomes the epicenter of the shopping world, as Old Sorehead Trade Days swells the downtown area with thousands people.
City officials say a wide array of vendors — hawking everything from antiques to the latest fashions — will descend on the town this Saturday and Sunday.
Organizers say, however, it's the food that draws many Crossroads residents to the event.
Trade days will feature two “food court” areas for visitors to check out, with the first located by the single traffic light near First National Bank and Stanton Drug, and a second area near the Stanton Community Center.
“Many visitors come to the trade days just to sample the dishes the food vendors have to offer,” Shawna Burch, spokesperson for the event, said. “All kinds of food are available. Curly fries, funnel cakes, turkey legs, roasted corn, seafood and Mexican food. There are all kinds of soft drinks and bottled waters in the food court areas.”
Old Sorehead Trade Days will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and continue until 6 p.m., resuming Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. For more information, call 432-756-2006.
