Travis W. Hunter, 68, of Lubbock, formerly of Big Spring died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Billy Guy of North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church officiating.

He was born Feb. 11, 1946, in Brownwood. He lived in Big Spring from 1973 to 1999. He was a custom jeweler having worked at Gray’s Jewelry in Highland Mall and later Hunter Jewelry on 11th Place. He has lived in Lubbock for the last 12 years and was associated with Myers Jewelry and also owned Hunter Jewelry LLC, doing custom and repair. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Big Spring.

He is survived by two sons Jon Hunter and his wife Rachel of Big Spring and James Hunter of Lubbock; one daughter Milena Newell and her husband Derek of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren Abigail Hunter, Erin Hunter, Kate Hunter and Jon Christian Hunter, all of Big Spring; and his father Roy Hunter of Kermit, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother Laura Hunter; and one brother Tommy Hunter.
