Big Spring Independent School District trustees are expected to name a construction manager for upcoming bond projects when they hold their regular monthly meeting at 5:15 p.m. today in the high school board room.

District officials received seven proposals from prospective managers to ramrod more than $50 million in construction projects that are scheduled to begin next spring, Superintendent Steven Saldivar said.

“We received seven proposals from across Texas,” Saldivar said. “(The district's evaluation committee) opened the proposals on the 8th and met twice since that time to consider them. They were very good, very competitive proposals … This job attracted some very qualified construction managers.”

Bids were received from firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Amarillo, Lubbock and Temple, as well from the immediate area, Saldivar noted.
Once the board approves a construction manager, that person will meet with administrators and architects to begin finalizing construction plans.
