Two jailed after knife fight

November 16, 2010

A weekend argument escalated into a knife fight that landed two local men in the hospital, then in the Howard County jail.

Police responded Saturday evening to the 800 block of Lorilla in west Big Spring in reference to a disturbance and possible stabbing.

Big Spring Police Sgt. Tony Everett said that when officers arrived on the scene they found two men suffering from injuries caused by “edged weapons.”

The two men were identified as Ismael Juarez, 50, and Jason Threats, 32, both of Big Spring.

“Threats suffered a cut to his left ear and Juarez had what appeared to be a minor stab wound to his neck,” Everett said. “It is believed they cut each other.”

Both men were transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center, where they were treated for their injuries. While at the hospital, however, they were both arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony that carries a possible sentence of between 2 and 20 years in state prison.
