United Way anticipates banner year

January 4, 2012

Generosity and hard work are just a couple of characteristics Big Spring and Howard County United Way board members saw in the community during 2011. Their hopes for seeing that again in 2012 are rather high.

“I believe 2012 will be a great year,” Executive Director Sandy Stewart said. “Many lives will be enriched due to the hard work and generosity of this community.”

Stewart stepped into the executive director position in July after the previous director, Jeanie Coor, stepped down due to her family relocating to Lamesa.

“Coming into this position right at the start of the campaign was without a doubt fast and furious and a little overwhelming at times, but with each day I am learning,” Stewart said. “With the support of the board and a very caring community I know we can and will continue to advance the common good throughout the community.”
