United Way Kick-off approaching

July 21, 2012

Boots and Bling set for Aug. 18

Slip on the boots and put on the bling for a second go-round.
The United Way of Big Spring and Howard County will be hosting its 68th annual campaign kick-off — Boots and Bling — at the Big Spring Country Club at 7 p.m. Aug. 18.
“It’s hard to believe it’s that time again, but here we are,” Executive Director Sandy Stewart said. “Last year we had a lot of success with the event and we decided ‘why mess with a good thing?’ We are doing it again and offering the community another chance to enjoy all that we had to offer last year as we kick off the 2013 campaign.”
Tickets are once again $25 per person. Tables — which seat eight people — can be purchased for $250. Due to the venue, there will be limited seating. The evening will include heavy hors d’oeuvres,
a cash bar, live music from Freeride and a silent auction.
“The silent auction did so well last year. We had lots of unique items and we are hoping for the same thing again this year,” Stewart said.
Those wanting to donate items to the silent auction are asked to contact a board member. Donations of all sorts, monetary and items, will be accepted.
Tickets can be purchased at the United Way office, located at 215 W. Third, or from any board member.
For more information, call the United Way at 267-5201.
