Velma Campbell

Velma Campbell, 82, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Mark Lindsey, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born April 24, 1930, to Jewell and Orville Gressett. She grew up in Broom and has been in Big Spring most of her life. She married Charles W. Campbell Sr. on Oct. 1, 1955, in Big Spring, Texas.

She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1988. She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 30 years.

She is survived by two sons, Charlie Campbell and wife Diana and David Campbell and wife Peggy, all of Big Spring; one brother, Phillip Gressett and wife Faye of Brownwood; a brother-in-law; two grandsons; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband and one granddaughter.
