Victor Garza, 81, of Big Spring died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
He was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Karnes City, Texas, and married Aurora Perez on Nov. 23, 1947, in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death May 11, 1993.
Victor was a longtime resident of Big Spring. He worked for Bud and Joe Hughes for more than 40 years and continued working for them off and on until a couple of years ago. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include 10 sons, Robert Garza of Belton, Armando Garza and wife Adela, and Fernando Garza and wife Lupe, all of Cleburne, Raul Garza and wife Tina of Joshua, Oscar Garza and wife Martha, Marcos Garza and wife JoElda, all of Big Spring, Joe Garza and wife Lupe of Ft. Worth, David Garza and wife Lucy, Lupe Garza and wife Rachel and Albert Garza and wife Patsy, all of Big Spring; five daughters, Irma Lozano and husband Joe of Big Spring, Olga Galan and husband Avel of Kerrville, Ellie Hilario and husband Robert, and Gloria Garza and Esperanza Garza all of Big Spring; two brothers, Tomas Garza of Fort Worth and Salvador Garza of Odessa; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Lionisia Garza; two sons, Victor Garza Jr. and Enrique Garza; four sisters and three brothers.
